It was at the Video Station, in the strip mall a few blocks away from her parents’ house– evenings and weekends, junior and senior year of high school. When she applied, she accidentally checked the box that said she was over eighteen, but it wasn’t a problem.
Over a dozen years later, she would fall in love and find that her boyfriend also worked at a Video Station, though the one across town and about five years earlier. They laughed as they recalled how many movies they stole. VHS. She didn’t tell him that she also stole money directly out of the register. One night she took $60, tucking it up the sleeve of her sweater.

She then took that 60 dollars and used it as seed money to begin Netflix, a small startup company that seemed to have potential if they could just work out issues of shipping, inventory and secure payment...
